“F” Force
Supposed to be a nice camp for light duties and plenty of food, in fact it was a filthy stinking sodden camp. The few huts there had no roofs the latrines were overflowing and great big shiny blowflies were bussing around. There were about 6 miles of road built in the immediate area, so vehicles could get through. It was about 5 or 6 weeks before work started on the railway enbankment.
F Force was the group working near the Burmese boarder known as Three Pagoda Pass. Because of three small Buddhist Pagoda, situated on the highest point of the line. F Force occupied several camps around the area. Shimo Sonkurai No.1 was the biggest base camp and then there was Naka Sonkurai No.2 and Kami Sonkurai No.3 camp. The main work was embankments.
