We marched from Wun Lun through Wun Tow, Kee Yen and Bankao. When we reached Tarki Len in mid February 1943, the huts at  were already erected in military fashion, facing the huts was a Japanese guardroom, between these buildings was a clearing where we were allowed to sit when work for the day was finished.

The work was different and more dangerous then Wun Lun, we first of all had to cut down giant teak and mahogany trees which were growing high above the river, this proved to be back breaking work even with the help of elephants. A wooden slipway was constructed to help slide the logs into the river.

There was a small market where the inhabitants of the local village sold their wares, eggs, vegetables and dried fish.

On the 2nd April 1943, we left the camp in a hurry, heading further into the South Shan Mountains, our destination Wampo South.
