A supposed, demonstration model camp. To impress representatives from the international Red Cross. Who had never been admitted to any of the POW camps before. The Japanese were under pressure from international press and relief agencies and had to give proof that prisoners, contrary to rumours that had reached the outside world, were being treated well.

Only prisoners who had no work value in the eyes of the Japanese were sent to this model camp at Nakon Pathom. There was, as can be imagined an abundant choice of work redundant prisoners.
